Fashioned in the 1920s as a winter retreat for Frederic Clay and Helen Bartlett and later improved upon in the 1930s, the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens serves as an unchanged bit of early 20th century history. Guided tours highlight the architectural and stylistic details of the home, both inside and out, and the residence is furnished with many antique pieces of furniture and art. The home also holds art works by both Frederic and his third wife, Evelyn, both of whom were accomplished artists, and is surrounded by lovely gardens. Located on 35 acres abutting the Atlantic Ocean, the home is just south of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
